Our Mission ICI has been established to actively promote policy that will have a beneficial effect on the viability of independent cattle producers for present and future generations. A message to our fellow independent cattlemen of Iowa and across the U.S. from the ICI Board of Directors: Independent Cattlemen of Iowa was formed in June of 2006 in response to Strong grassroots support for a state association that will support the issues important to those engaged in the raising and feeding of live cattle. We are enthusiastic about the future of Iowa's cattle industry. The expansion of Ethanol and biofuels plants in the state will offer an attractive supply of distillers products for livestock feed. Furthermore, expiring CRP contracts could enable substantial growth in livestock production. And with increasing consumer demand for beef, more high quality fed cattle will be needed to fill that demand. ICI is working to ensure that raising and feeding cattle remains viable and profitable for Iowa's independent cattle producers. ICI recognizes the difference between cattle and beef. ICI believes that the best way to provide consumers with safe and consistant high quality beef, is to provide a stable environment for independent cattle producers to do what they do best, produce cattle. ICI supports the interests of independent cattle producers exclusively. ICI offers hope to independent producers. We will be working hard to prevent vertical integration of the cattle and beef industries. Cattle producers need a strong, unified voice to represent the interests of independent cattlemen. ICI members believe it is time to take a new direction in policies that affect the well being and profitability of Iowa's independent cattle producers. We look forward to working with you in our new organization and hope you will join today. Annual dues are $35 per year and for the first year of existence charter memberships are available for $100. We welcome any comments you would have for us. Thank you, ICI Board of Directors - Eric Nelson, President | Moville
